Walking to keep tails wagging!

6 dogs and 16 staff and friends of Highgrove Veterinary Surgery together raised over £500 for National Pet Charity Tailwaggers Club Trust last Sunday in a 10km sponsored walk.

The event was organised by Head Nurse, Sue Burden, in recognition of the care and compassion shown by Tailwaggers to pet-lovers finding themselves in financial need.

‘One of the nice things about Tailwaggers, apart from their genuine love of all animals, is that they treat each case individually on merit, taking personal circumstances such as ill health, or sudden loss of work into consideration. As such there is no ‘means testing’, and anyone in genuine need of help can apply.’ said Sue.

The walkers started in Chalton just off the A3, and took the dogs and their friends to the picturesque village of Buriton, for well earned refreshment at the 5 Bells Inn, who generously donated £10 to the cause!

Then off through the beautiful South Downs via Queen Elizabeth Country Park whose Rangers were most helpful in organising the walk.

Head Vet Scott Crae said ‘I’m very proud of my team. It was a wonderful event, spontaneously organised by my nurses, and generously supported by our clients. We had a lovely time in the glorious weather and are proud to be associated with the caring and compassionate work that Tailwaggers do. Of course we will continue to support them and the needy cats and dogs of Portsmouth in years to come.’

To make a donation contact Tailwaggers via their website or phone the surgery on 02392 376274.

The walkers gather outside the church at Chalton.
